Residential Schools in Canada

In response to the precious children found buried at Kamloops Residential School, at Marieval Indian Residential School in Saskatchewan, and other places yet uncovered, we encourage all Canadians to learn more about the history of the Residential Schooling system in Canada.

On each of the 7 days leading up to Canada Day 2021, we will share the voices of our Indigenous Brothers and Sisters in Christ. We are inspired and challenged by their acts of forgiveness and dedication to their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, in spite of the abuses they have suffered by those who claim to be His followers.

We invite all to listen, learn, lament and consider what we may do to love one another the way Jesus does.

Day 1

Lamentations 2:19

“Arise, cry out in the night,

at the beginning of the night watches!

Pour out your heart like water

before the presence of the Lord!

Lift your hands to him

for the lives of your children ..."

Day 2

Psalm 34:18

The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.

Day 3

Psalm 147:3

He heals the brokenhearted

and binds up their wounds.

Day 4

Psalm 22:24

For he has not despised or scorned the suffering of the afflicted one; he has not hidden his face from him but has listened to his cry for help.

Day 5

Psalm 71:20-21

Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore my life again; from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up. You will increase my honor and comfort me once again.

Day 6

Isaiah 25:8

He will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign LORD will wipe away the tears from all faces;

Day 7

Isaiah 49:14-16

But Zion said, "The LORD has forsaken me, the Lord has forgotten me." "Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me."
