WHAT IS BABY / CHILD DEDICATION?
Parent / Child / Baby Dedication is a time of public and personal commitment when parents promise to reaise their children with Godly values.
This public commitment is designed to encourage and challenge parents to be active participants in their children’s lives.
We believe that the spiritual climate you create at home is more significant than at church or anywhere else.
Parents have a huge influence on the spiritual formation of the lives of their kids!
HOW IS DEDICATION DIFFERENT FROM BAPTISM?
Baby dedication is not a baptism, nor is it a declaration of the child’s faith. Rather, it is a parent’s public declaration of their choice to raise their child with a Biblical worldview.
Some churches offer baptism for infants. At Pinewoods, we don’t baptize infants because every baptism recorded in the Bible occurred when someone was old enough to make their own decision about their faith.
DOES DEDICATING MY CHILD MEAN THEY WILL BE SAVED AND GO TO HEAVEN?
No. Baby dedication does not impart grace or salvation. The Bible is clear that we are saved by God’s grace, not by dedication, baptism, or our own works.
Dedication and Baptism are not salvation, nor are they required for salvation.
Faith in Christ’s death on the cross is what washes away sin, giving salvation and forgiveness.
WHY IS CHILD & BABY DEDICATION IMPORTANT?
Children belong first and foremost to God. A parent’s responsibility is to be a spiritual leader for their child.
Baby Dedication acknowledges this responsibility and affirms the parent’s commitment to it.
IS MY CHILD TOO OLD TO BE DEDICATED?
Though there is no minimum or maximum age at which you can dedicate your children, we find that most families dedicate their children when they are in the age range of infant through preschool.
ARE THERE ANY FEES TO HAVE MY CHILD DEDICATED?
Baby and Child Dedication is a free service of Pinewoods Chapel.
Costs are covered by funds that have been donated to Pinewoods, in order that all may participate no matter their financial situation.
