Pinewoods Chapel Our Beliefs

We Believe the Bible to be the complete word of God; that the Old and New Testaments, as originally written, were inspired by the Spirit of God and were free from error. For us, the Bible is the absolute authority in all matters of faith, doctrine and life. For that reason we hold to the historic doctrines of the Christian faith.

We Believe in one God; as described in the Bible, the holy, sovereign, eternal creator, existing in three equal Persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

We Believe in the absolute deity of Jesus Christ who was incarnated through a virgin birth, lived a sinless life, died as a sacrifice on the cross, rose from the dead and ascended to the right hand of God where he mediates for us.

We Believe in the deity and personality of the Holy Spirit who convinces us of truth, leads us to repentance, gives us a renewed spiritual life and works within us to strengthen, mature and keep that new life.

We Believe that New Life is necessary because our relationship with God has died because of sin and rebellion. We were created specially in the image of God but that image in us has been damaged by sin.

We Believe God has graciously offered us Salvation through Jesus, the way, the truth and the life. Salvation is a gift to those who believe, repent and turn to follow Jesus Christ; depending on his death on the cross to satisfy God's judgement and free us from condenmation. The eternal destiny of every human soul, in heaven or hell, is determined by whether or not this salvation is accepted by faith.

We Believe that all who have been born again by the spirit of God are members of the body of Christ, the Universal Church of the living God. Local assemblies of Christians, such as Pinewoods, are part of that body, meeting together for worship, mutual encouragement and witness.

We Believe we are to continue to follow the teaching of Jesus Christ and his Apostles as we wait for the Return of Jesus Christ to take his people to be with him, to raise the dead and judge the world. By God's grace we will then experience the fullness of our salvation in God's Kingdom where Jesus Christ will reign forever.
